A session was held in the 25th Tehran International Book Fair's House of Literati entitled "International Book Awards in Iran" at Saturday, May 5.
IBNA: The session was attended by Iranian researcher Seyyed Ali Kashefi Khansari and the manager of Nahl publication Amir Salehi Taleghani.

First Kashefi Khansari talked about Iran's long history in the field of written works and culture saying Iran is far from other international fields. Moreover besides the Book of the Year of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is held by the Islamic Guidance and Culture Ministry, no other successful samples exist.
He added: "Some 7 years ago the ministry toke another step for holding an international book award and the secretariat of Islamic World's children's books was established and during the same year through a call hundreds of children's books of the Islamic World were identified. The award was supposed to be held which never happened."

He then talked about the Eve literary award saying that the award is established by Eve Literary Agency to pave the way for the attendance of best Iranian works in foreign countries."

This year, during the award's first edition, we will screen Iranian works which have been released in foreign languages inside Iran. According to the call, all publishers, translators and authors can submit their works until May 12. The works will be evaluated according to their pictures, context and translation, he added.

He than talked about the books which want to attend literary awards saying:" Firstly we should identify books, printed in Iran, which hold international values. Then Iranian works, released by foreign publishers, are introduced and non-Iranian publishers which made the works international should be honored. Furthermore works, themed on Iran, released in other countries, should be identified."

He then talked about the publication of Persian books in other countries saying:" Persian is our precious treasure and for preserving it we should release Persian works in foreign countries. Since many readers are eager to read Persian books. Such books should be translated by the translator of the target language and released in the same country. However the work requires an introduction for introducing Iranian works which will be fulfilled through international literary awards. "

In other news, Amir Salehi Taleghani said that a literary agency is a missing piece of foreign and national publication in Iran.

The 25th Tehran International Book Fair is currently underway in Tehran and will run until May 12 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground with the motto of "A Quarter of a Century of Cultural Jihad".
